Click a button and raise a dollar for North Anoka County Emergency Foodshelf (NACE); how simple is that! Last November and December, Connexus Energy did just that for three local food shelves: ACBC in Anoka; NACE in East Bethel; and Family Pathways in Cambridge.
During those two months, Connexus ran a Facebook promotion requesting new likes for the Connexus Energy Facebook page. For each new like the page received, one dollar was donated to each of the three food shelves. As a result of that Facebook campaign, Connexus has 1822 more likes on their Facebook page and each of the three food shelves received a check for $1822 or a total donation from Connexus of $5,466.
NACE will use the donation to purchase food for distribution at the foodshelf. Every $1 donated to NACE gives us $8.60 in purchasing power from local food banks. Therefore we can purchase $15,669 in food with the donation from Connexus. NACE has already seen 611 clients and distributed 12,640 pounds of food in the first 3 weeks of 2013. NACE would like to thank Connexus Energy for their support of families in need in North Anoka County.
I remember the excitement the day my kids first got their bikes. And the pride I felt at being a part of that rite of passage to independence. To be part of that excitement and pride thirty times this past December was a highlight of the year for staff at NACE. All thanks to Bikes4Kids and the Ham Lake Lions for providing 30 bikes for 30 children whose families needed assistance from NACE in 2012.
To make the happiness of giving away restored bikes with new helmets and safety/care manuals even better was the moment a young boy returned his bike to NACE. He had received a 2nd bike for Christmas and wanted some other child to get the same experience as him. What a joyful moment! We at NACE give a big and heartfelt “Thank you” to Bikes4Kids and the Ham Lake Lions for including NACE and helping make the 2012 holiday season better for 30 kids in need in our community.
